There is a poem saying, “the grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of the Lord stands forever.” Yet, have you once doubted if the Bible written so long ago be relevant for the complicated interpersonal dynamics today?
I have been persuaded by my experience in the counseling room that many interpersonal struggles are rooted in the complexity of our innermost thoughts and desires. The Bible verses often enlightened the clients like a sharpest two-edge sword cutting between soul and spirit (Hebrews 4:12). For the Bible is the Word of the Lord; it is the only living word relevant for all people in all places at any time. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17” It is as contemporary as the heart of God and as relevant as our most urgent need.
