We usually use “parts of a body” as a metaphor to explain how important to facilitate different people in a team with different strengths and limitations to work together and complement each other. Each of us has a special function, just like many parts of a body, so we all belong to each other. I first heard this discourse from the teaching of St. Paul on running a church. Ironically, the first time I know how serious interpersonal conflicts can lead to was from church too. The Lord wants the different body members to find their strengths and function with their strengths so that the body as a whole can be spiritually healthy. Maybe we have always missed the term “spiritual.” With our sinful nature, we are more like competing with each other rather than complementing each other. Putting us together is not our accomplishment. It is His work. “He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. Each part does its special work. It helps the other parts grow so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.   Ephesians 4:16.”
