“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9. The verse highlights how precious we are to the Lord and how we are called to reflect His light and glory. Since the day you (the students of “School for the Street Child – Sekolah Pelita Permai”) surrendered to the love of Jesus, you no longer belong to the streets. You have been recognized as sweet-hearted children of Jesus, our Lord. None of us sitting on the playground are poor, for Jesus lives in us and has given us aspirations. I can see a future musician here who worships the Lord with her beautiful voice, a future dancer, a future policeman, a future accountant, a future lawyer, and so on. Do you know that because of you, the future world can be more meaningful? However, before it can be realized, you may encounter hurdle after hurdle. These hurdles are necessary for building faithful leaders. The leaders of the future should not only be strong but also tough. Yet, do not fear because your badge on your school uniform proves that Jesus is accompanying you. When you bow down, close your eyes, and pray to Jesus, He will reveal that He is beside you, and the hurdles can never stop you from moving forward.
