Months ago, I had the chance to share with hundreds of prospective parents. We exchanged our experience in parent-child interaction. I learned what attracts their kids to choose Henrietta as their favorite school too. It was found that quite many families (one-sixth) chose us because of our Christian background. It makes us think deeply about what kind of Christian activities benefit kids’ growth. Is it our annual Gospel event? Probably not! Their kids are already Christian! Is it our weekly fellowship time? Their kids grow up in church and are not short of it. I may have asked wrongly. Christian education is far more than religious activities. Giving the kids discipleship and spiritual role models may be more important than religious activities. I am not saying that regular Christian activities are not important. After all, we still have kids who do not know much about Jesus, but wouldn’t it be more like a Christian school should provide practicing opportunities for kids to learn to speak testimonies and even live out good testimonies? Of course, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.-Mark 9:42.” Teachers, even the principal, should be role models for the kids. Every time a comment or a decision is made, we should recall what Jesus would say and do to live out a good Christian testimony.
