“Pressure and Teacher” are twins! Certainly, social instability and worries about the kid’s growth are the main sources of stress. I once read an article that reveals many pressures in the workplace are employees self-made. The article advises employees to look for three things in the workplace: “meaningful purpose,” “hope for the future,” and “genuine friendship.” In a school setting, I guess these three things should be found in every corner of the campus. Whether we are frontline teachers, middle managers, or principals, we once wrote down our educational vision. It has been our “meaningful purpose.” Read it occasionally to remind ourselves that working on campus is still rewarding. Also, education should never be about reality but about the future. What the future will be for the kids sitting in front of us today depends on what we expect to see. It is our “hope for the future.” “Genuine friendship” is rooted in love. Gallup survey found that the mutual help relationship in the workplace will increase job satisfaction by 50%. The Bible has a similar discourse on the desires of people today. “But now we still have faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.- 1 Corinthians 13:13.” Teachers’ job is full of challenges; the most challenging is to live out faith, hope, and love on campus. Yet, don’t forget that we never own the business. The Lord will own it instead.
