Technology advances make complex the world. “Seeing is believing” has long been common sense but is no longer true. Paul claimed that we have no excuse for not knowing the Lord (Romans 1:20). Through everything the Lord made, we can see His eternal power and divine nature. The claim is now invalid. I once treated the poet’s manifesto in Psalm 19 as proof of the existence of the mighty Lord. It is not! It is instead an appreciation based on the belief that the mighty Lord has existed. The existence of the Lord is not a science to be proved. Once we can find evidence to prove His existence, we are superior to Him. It is the issue of humility. We trust in Him, not because of evidence but because we prefer to submit even without evidence. This is meant by Faith. The Lord communicates with us through His creation. All nature sings about a majestic God who created the starry heavens, the roar of thunder, and the glorious snowcapped mountains. But nature also whispers about the Lord’s mind-boggling attention to detail in a butterfly’s wings, the variety of plants, and the complexity of a strand of DNA. Do we live in a world of doubt or a garden of appreciation? It is our choice.
