As educators, we are uniquely blessed with the opportunity to set meaningful goals at the start of a new year—not just once but three times! This allows us to continually rejuvenate our spirits and align our intentions with our roles as guides for young minds. The first chance comes on the 1st of January, promising a new calendar year. Then, the start of the lunar year provides another wonderful occasion to reflect, followed by the beginning of the academic year, a perfect time to establish educational and personal aspirations that support our students and our growth. In addition to these fresh starts, I find profound inspiration in the book of Ecclesiastes. Although often viewed through a lens of somber reflection, its teachings serve as a beacon throughout the year. By reading each chapter monthly, I end the year with a powerful reminder: remembering our Creator, fearing Him, and keeping His commandments, invigorating our journey with renewed purpose and hope. (Ecclesiastes 12). The teachings suggest everything has significance when viewed through a lens of faith and purpose. Thus, as we welcome this new year, I wholeheartedly encourage you to embrace the chance to set new, inspiring goals. Harness the energy of these beginnings to define what truly matters, and let that vision guide and uplift you throughout the year.
