Life can be tough, and sometimes we feel like we’re just barely getting by. It’s okay to feel sad and lonely and struggle with our emotions. We are not alone in our struggles, and we are not disappointing anyone, especially not the Lord. I want to share a story about a hawk with a broken wing. The hawk thought it was useless and would never be able to fly again. But during its brokenness, it found a special closeness to the world around it. It couldn’t soar through the sky like it used to, but it found solace in subtle things – the rustling of the leaves, the warmth of the sun, and the songs of other birds. In its brokenness, it found a new way to experience the world and a deeper connection to its surroundings. In the same way, when we feel broken and worn down by life, it’s an opportunity to experience more of the Lord’s presence. During these times, we can become more attuned to the small miracles around us – a kind word from a friend, a beautiful sunset, or a moment of peace in the chaos. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. - Psalm 34:18.” We don’t have to put on a brave face or pretend that everything is okay because the Lord understands our struggles and draws closer to us in our brokenness. Our brokenness does not disappoint the Lord. We are loved and valued, just as we are, and our struggles do not go unnoticed.
