Once, a young farmer dreamed of having the village’s most flourishing and bountiful harvest. He toiled under the sun daily, tending to his crops with unwavering dedication. With each passing season, he became more and more fixated on achieving the perfect harvest. But as the years went by, the young farmer noticed that despite his tireless efforts, his crops never seemed to reach the level of abundance he had envisioned. Disheartened, he often compared his yield to his neighbors’, feeling a deep sense of inadequacy and failure. One day, a wise elder from a nearby village visited and asked the young farmer why he seemed so gloomy. He confessed his frustrations. The elder nodded and shared with him a Bible verse. “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. -Proverbs 16:9.” The young farmer realized that the gap between his aspirations and the reality of his harvest had led to his feelings of failure and inadequacy. Instead of fixating on an unachievable perfection, he began to appreciate the progress he had made and found contentment in the steady growth of his crops, focused on nurturing his crops with love and attention, finding joy in the simple pleasures of each harvest, free from the burden of unrealistic expectations.
