In the Chinese community, we are taught to express ourselves with self-restraint. We tend to express our accomplishments moderately. Some may even think that it is wrong to be proud of our accomplishments. It is, to an extent, an expression of humility. But if we believe that our accomplishment is resulted from the Lord’s work done through us, why we need to be so abstinent in glorifying Him. The Bible has posed a series of questions: “What gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift? – 1 Corinthians 4: 7” All these remind us that accomplishment brings us satisfaction, which then leads us to thank God for what He has done through us.
