Patience must be a critical feature of the growth mindset. It allows teachers to show the Lord’s love to our students, especially those who are struggling. I knew an S3 student who loved every subject but the English language. He didn’t like it, for he didn’t feel competent to manage it. He wasn’t a “good student” in the lesson. He was talkative in class, but many of these off-task behaviors were a cover-up because he didn’t want to be embarrassed in the English lesson. “The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. – Ecclesiastes 7:8.” Interestingly, he is now an English teacher at a secondary school.
