One of our major capacities as teachers is to discipline students on their irresponsible behavior or inappropriate learning attitude. Similarly, senior teachers’ major capacity is to remind frontline teachers of their irresponsible behaviors or inappropriate teaching attitude. The skills and courageous of handling conflicts are essential in both cases. Living in a Chinese culture, I tend to be self-restraint in expressing negative thoughts. In my first year of being a senior teacher, I doubted if I was strong enough to handle conflicts between frontline teachers. Yet, the following verse had strengthened me. “Let anyone of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. – John 8: 7.” If I am strong enough to admit my sinful nature, I am strong enough to discipline others. It may also be a wisdom to reconcile in our broken world.
