STEM.S
(S-服務)
The very purpose of learning is to enhance people's mutual understanding and caring. The concept is not new but recorded as early as the first century: "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight. - Philippians 1:9". If the four letters in STEM are out of touch with the concerns of human needs, we cannot see any educational value from the acronym.
STEM.S
(S for Service)
Unlike the common understanding of STEM education, students are motivated by the interesting application of relevant knowledge. We believe that serving the needy and solving their inconvenience is the purpose of innovation. Our teachers thus develop a school-based STEM(S) curriculum with Service as the main objective – the (S) stands for Service. The curriculum is run in our S2 Life and Technology course. We put the elderly as the serving target this year with design thinking and virtual technology. We hope the course will inspire the kids to develop new ideas that can enhance the lives of the elderly.
