To celebrate the International School Library Month organized by the International Association of School Librarianship cum 79th Henrietta Secondary School Anniversary, our school library connected with the School Library from the Soviet Union V.P. Strelnikov School in Russia to hold a virtual meeting. We had a wonderful cultural exchange in the afternoon. We had around ten students join this exchange session.
The following are the reflections from our students:

Participating in the virtual meeting with Russian students was a rewarding experience. It was fascinating to learn about their cultural traditions and perspectives, which differ greatly from our own. During the meeting, we shared our journeys of exploring our identities through literature. One of the Russian participants mentioned a classic memoir about a man escaping from a concentration camp, which left a profound impact on me. In return, our fellows introduced a work illustrated by our schoolmates titled “中華文創聚寶盆.”
Despite some language barriers, our conversation flowed smoothly. This experience deepened my appreciation for cultural diversity and inspired me to seek more opportunities to connect with people from around the world. The meeting demonstrated how reading can bridge gaps between different cultures, enriching my perspective through this meaningful exchange!

Despite people from different cultures, reading has connected us! I was surprised to find that Russian fellows were captivated by traditional Chinese mythology while we were sharing it! We also enjoyed hearing about Russian culture, we’re glad to see a boy demonstrating their costume during the meeting! Both teachers and students enjoyed the meeting very much, we exchanged our favorite books, this sharing is fulfilling! This virtual dialogue enriches me to talk and share more of our reading experiences in the future!
